PRP Architects will be showcasing a series of 'before' and 'after' examples of retrofitting techniques on three real scale mock ups of standard period properties.
Structure 1: 1960's concrete flat frame - bathroom
THE STRUCTURE: Party wall with either side, bathroom/communal corridor and living 
area with balcony
Constructed by Wates Living Space, the structure will demonstrate a 1960's concrete flat pre-retrofit and post retrofit with exposed construction build ups. It incorporates technologies to improve the lives of our ageing population.
It demonstrates solutions to problems typically associated with this dwelling type, such as insulating the exposed party fin wall, reducing heat loss through the balcony structure and concrete frame and minimising heat loss into unheated communal areas.
