BAA LANDS AT THE INFRASTRUCTURE SHOW
Airport operator, BAA has signed up as the client partner for the Airports and Ports Hub at the newly launched Infrastructure Show, taking place 18-20 October 2010 at NEC, Birmingham. The Infrastructure is held in association with NCE and is designed to offer the civil engineering community a networking platform to debate and discuss the issues facing today’s major construction and delivery projects.
One of five hubs, the Airports and Ports Hub, will showcase the latest project update on Heathrow's new Terminal 2 in addition to other projects at the airport.
Speaking about the partnership, David Ferroussat of BAA Heathrow commented: It is important that BAA is seen to be working at the heart of the industry, representing itself as the 'Intelligent Client' and helping to inform the supply chain of it's up and coming projects and development strategies.
More for Less is the key theme of the event, providing insight and challenging debate within five core areas – Roads, Rail, Cities, Utilities and Airport and Port Construction. The Infrastructure Show promises to combine all the key technical, business and political issues that make this one of the most fascinating sectors of the built environment.
BAA is the latest of a host of organisations (others include Crossrail and Network Rail) which have begun laying the foundations for The Infrastructure Show. Exhibitors already signed up include Topcon, Kosran, JDP, Macrete, Fisher fixings, Celsa Steel, Apollo Cradles, RMD Kwikform and many more.
Offering something for everyone, an extensive conference programme will cover a wide range of areas, including a session on Best Practice in Infrastructure Procurement which will bring together PPP investment and delivery partners.
The Hosted Buyer Programme has also been launched which is a free service, offering a bespoke diary of supplier meetings with exhibitors, as well as select networking opportunities and seminars. By creating a highly structured day, participants have the opportunity to maximise their time spent at the show and develop relationships with alternative suppliers or discover new innovations directly relevant to their business. The programme has been designed specifically for procurement professionals and specifiers to reduce the time and effort of researching for new technologies, ideas and suppliers.
The Infrastructure Show forms a major part of the new event, BEST (Built Environment Solutions and Technologies) which is replacing Interbuild Specifier. Building on the legacy provided by Interbuild Specifier, BEST will demonstrate to the industry how to achieve best practice that minimises cost, increases efficiency and reduces environmental impact.
