GGF’S CUSTOMER CONCILIATION SCHEME
Being a member of the GGF not only benefits window and door companies, it also benefits their customers. This has always been the case, but the Federation has recently launched a leaflet, aimed at domestic consumers, explaining what services are available to them if they are unable to resolve a complaint directly with a member company.
A consumer is defined as a private individual who has personally entered into a contract with a GGF member, and who has not made the contract in the course of business, nor held himself out as doing so.
“The free conciliation service has been available to customers of GGF members for a long time,” explained Nigel Rees, Chief Executive of the GGF. “This clearly explains how the GGF will endeavour to resolve disputes and ensure that our members meet their contractual responsibilities to their customers.”
The Conciliation Scheme is a confidential correspondence based process that exists to ensure all member companies fulfil their agreed obligations to that customer.
This process has a very high success rate and issues are usually resolved without the need for expensive litigation, benefitting the consumer and GGF member companies.
In the rare cases that this does not work and a member company fails to deal with the matter through conciliation, there is a Consumer Arbitration Scheme provided through The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators for the GGF, and this may be considered by the Conciliation Manager.
